Caden’s Allergy Test
Posted by admin on Friday Feb 20, 2009 Under Caden
Dr. Lantz, Caden’s pediatrician, called me last night around 8pm with the results of the allergry test. Turns out Caden is highly allergic to eggs. Which could explain his eczema, his constant runny nose, his watery eyes and more. So for the next few months we have to take out eggs entirely, which includes so many foods! We went through our cupboard and 1/2 of his food has eggs in it. Most pastas, any cookies or cakes, some breads and crackers, most of your breakfast foods such as waffles, french toast, anything breaded like chicken nuggets, pretzels, muffins, salad dressings, some soups, the flu shot and more. So this will be quite a new experience. His doctor is going to be sending me some information but she told me to check on the web in the meantime and I found a great article on Kidshealth.org: Egg Allergy including a handy little print out to keep in your wallet/purse with the ingredients he should avoid. There’s even entire products dedicated to egg allergies such as t-shirts, magnets, luggage tags, and stickers.

Our pediatrician is a Dr. Lantz, too. . . I wonder if it’s the same Dr. . . ours is Dr Karen Lantz at Family First Pediatrics, we love her. We’re so sad she’s moving this summer. . . sigh!
I’m sorry he’s allergic to eggs, that is tough. There are eggs in a TON of products. Kyara tested positive for egg allergies when she was one, but further testing showed she wasn’t really allergic. It was hard figuring out what to feed her when we thought she was allergic to eggs though. Good luck!

Andrea! I can’t believe that, how funny. Yes it’s Karen Lantz. She told us just at this last appointment too that she’s moving up to Canada. She was so apologetic because we had Dr. Good before that, who left to help kids in Columbia, then we had her. But I have loved every doctor there at this doctor’s office so it’s just been this blessing in disguise. Back in TX I had some bad experiences with the pediatricians there so this has been fantastic, especially with Caden.

She is great-I really like her. The other Dr I have seen at their office is Dr. Goff (she’s on maternity leave right now), I think that’s who we’ll switch to when Karen leaves. Except for Jaxon, who has insisted that we change him to a “boy Dr.”
I’m glad your experience here has been good, I have loved every Dr. I’ve had so far, knock on wood, I hope that continues for both of us!
