Caden’s Surgery

Posted by admin on Sunday Mar 30, 2008 Under Caden

Just a quick note that Caden’s g-tube surgery will be on April 25th at 9 am up at Primary Children’s Hospital.  We’ll have to stay overnight but the entire surgery will last about an hour. My little baby’s 3rd surgery and he’s just 8 months old!

Wow! Good luck. So he only has to stay overnight for observation? When do they teach you all the ins and outs (sometimes literally) of caring for the G-Tube. I’m sure that even has horrible as the idea of the surgery might be…in the same way it will be nice for him to be able to be fed right?

We will be praying for you and little Caden on April 25-I hope everything goes well. Let us know what we can do to help, please! Thanks.

Katie, not really sure. I thought the NG tube would be intimidating, but when I asked the GI doctor about replacing the small balloon they use to keep the button in place that we’ll feed him through, they said that we’ll take care of that! Just the concept that he’ll have this hole directly into his stomach and we’ll do that is kind of scary.

    Thank you Andrea!

I can totally relate to that. I didn’t really know what to expect when my daughter had her G-Tube placed. In my mind I was thinking…”there’s a hole in her stomach, like a real hole.” Very odd to think about. When it was time to take the tube out the doctor’s office told us to just do it at home. It closed pretty quickly, a lot quicker than I thought it would. Good luck to you and your little guy!
